Software Project

Types of Projects > Plug-in Projects

A new employee is generally required to work with the existing software of a business, rather than write completely new software. A number of projects undertaken involve developing plug-ins for commercial software products produced by Tasmanian ICT companies. This also gives the client a number of students they can employ who already have intimate knowledge of their product. For example, ISW Development, Getbusi, Nunatak Systems Pty Ltd, Department of Education, Geometry Pty Ltd, and ISW Viewbuild have all supplied projects to build on their existing software and most of them have employed students from their teams.

"The team has performed exceptionally well. Our specification and application requirements changed during the course of the project and the team adapted very well to this. The team has demonstrated an innovative approach to implementing the functionality under our core requirements to ensure that the solution is flexible and powerful. The outputs of this project have exceeded our expectations and I would like to thank the entire team for their fantastic efforts. This course provides a great opportunity to work closely with the students and I hope they have got as much out of the project as we have. I hope we have the opportunity to participate in the project next year."
