release two «
Release 2 is now complete. All components have been tested and manuals written. Demonstration day was a big hit, with a very good turnout and lots of great looking projects. We had very positive responses from all those that checked out our project, and we are happy with how well our software performed. Release two has involved the development of searching features that allow end users to search through FAQs as the Release one functionality provided for. This means that the end user can type in some words relevant to their problem in much the same way as google, and the search will find any records containing those words. It is now possible for staff manning the helpdesk (the ones taking the phone calls) to suggest a topic for an FAQ if they see the need. This is treated in much the same way as analysis of records, in that they will be reviewed by the IT Staff before being published as an FAQ. Another big improvement over the first release is the ability to analyse records again without completely wiping out the database. This was set to be a rather large task, and coupled with conversion to MSSQL, we had our work cut out. |
